We also saw another barn on our way to WI Dells. We saw it between Barneveld and Black Earth somewhere I think on County K.

Because of your interest in round barns I hope you will let me tell you of a special round barn that has been in my husband's family.
It is the Lewis Round Barn which was built in 1914 by Charles E. Lewis of Camp Point, Illinois. Last year, after the family farm was sold, the barn was given to the Olde Tyme Assoc. along with a grant from the State of Illinois of $150,000.00 and it was moved to a site adjacent to the Adams County Fairgrounds in Quincy, Illinois.
This past year a cousin and I published a cookbook incorporating treasured family recipes called "Round Barn Farm - Family Favorites" with a picture of the round barn on the front cover. Inside there is a history of the barn as well as 374 mouth-watering recipes from the Hersman-Andrews-Lewis families.
All proceeds from this book are given to the H-A-L-P Scholarship fund to help students with their college education. The fund was started in 1964 when Alice McGaw Hersman passed away at age 102. Alice was a college graduate herself and education was deemed a "must" for her children and grandchildren.
This is a revolving scholarship in that graduate students must pay back their "college loan" (interest free) so that subsequent students can partake of the fund when they need it. With an ever increasing number of students, this little cookbook hopefully will help educate some aspiring youth.
The book is available for $15.00 plus $3.90 shipping charges. If you would like to have a copy...or copies, please mail your check made payable to: H-A-L-P Scholarship Cookbook, Theodota G. Hersman, P.O. Box 5203, Sun City West, AZ 85376.
Around 1906 my father, John Termuende, and his father John Wilhelm Termuende traveled from Oak Lawn, Illinois, and homsteaded in Saskatchewan just east of the town of Lanigan. They were later joined by 3 other brothers and a sister. There they farmed 3 sections of land until the last brother died in the 1980s and the farm was acquired by the University of Saskatchewan. Around 1910 they built a round barn which is still being used. Last week I took my son, Tim, and his two boys, Eric and Joel, to the homestead.

From Barb Lewis: In September of 2000 we held an invitation only hot air balloon fun fly at our farm in Beldenville, WI. With some fellow balloon pilots, friends and family we admired the fall colors top side. Our round barn was built in 1914 and houses a poured concrete silo in the center.

Bob & Kathy Frydenlund submitted this Aerial Photo of their Round Barn Farm.
"Ever wanted to just get away for a while, well. Want to go back in time, say 100 years in less than an hour? THEN, welcome to 1910. It's worth the trip! We are Bob & Kathy Frydenlund from New Richmond, Wisconsin. Our 40-acre farm is located about 45 miles northeast of Minneapolis and St. Paul, Minnesota. If you LOVE Round Barns check us out. Our unique farm in rural Wisconsin, hosts a true 60-foot, 90 year old round barn, which is HOME to our llamas.
Our barn is a surviving example of round barn construction, that is now rarely found in Wisconsin, There are probably less then 100 round barns left standing in the Midwest now and it's one of only 3 left in St.Croix County.
Historic landmarks, like these, are now vanishing quicker than you might realize. We realized this after researching the history of our Round Barn. We're now offering this, richly illustrated 72-page book that shows you, 'HOW TO BUILD AND LOVE YOUR OWN ROUND BARN'. Now on our website you can actually PEEK into our book and see what it LOOKS like!!
This book has over 40 + original construction photos, 30+ black/white drawings of original floor plans, also rare, original photos of other Round Barns. Included, also is a chapter on how we're restoring and preserving our barn.
We would love for you to see it in person. too! We've given tours for visitors from many different states, Iowa, Ohio, Illinois, Virginia, Pennsylvania, Vermont, and Oregon, and sold books to people like you as far away as Chile and Taiwan as well as several State Historical Societies."

Below is a reader submitted photo composite of a round barn converted into a house.

Audrey Graham sent in this picture of a round barn near Potsdam, MN. It is on Hwy. 247 east of Hwy. 63 and north of Rochester, MN.

We have a deteriorating round barn here in Warren County, New Jersey, and we are looking into starting an effort to preserve it. Any suggestions you can make would be helpful.
Here (below) is a photo of the barn. It was built in the 1930s by a man who originally had built a round barn on his farm in the Midwest, but moved East after one of his sons came to the Garden State.

A reader writes:
I see you have many round barns in Wisconsin listed. My family owns on in Grant County just outside of Blue River on County T. The barn is still in real good shape and is still being used to house the remainder of my Grandma's animals.

I wanted to let you know about the only known Round Barn in Montana...and probably one of the last Round Barns built (completed in 1941). It is the Round Barn Restaurant & theater in Red Lodge. It originated as the Kent Dairy Barn.
Hi Paul,
Our family was in Indiana for a family reunion over the 4th of July - My mother-in-law took these pictures at my request.
The red barn is the biggest round barn in Indiana. Built around 1898 and the the Kingen family since 1908.

The other pictures are of the Round Barn Inn. It was really neat to see the two barns. Gald you shared your interest or we would have missed the adventure.

1. On Hwy 54 east of Hwy 22 before New London

My mother has been intrigued with 2 things- windmills & round barns. We live only 25 miles from the barn referenced to above and thought we'd take a ride and check it out. Here is a more detailed description of the location-
The barn is located west of New London on highway 54, 2 miles west of a town called Northport also located along this highway. It is located on the north side of the highway at Otto Road just east of the wayside. There is a sign by the highway that reads "Royal Dome Percheron Farm".
